Singet dem Herrn
A jubilant programme of music for two cornetti and soprano. Works by masters of the early German baroque (Schütz, Buxtehude, Vierdanck and Kittel) are presented alongside instrumental music from their Italian contemporaries, including Kapsberger and Merula, in a programme dedicated to the joy of music. The combination of works by popular composers and their lesser-known counterparts makes this programme a voyage of discovery. Some live sound clips from a recent performance in Freiburg, Germany can be found on the Audio page.
La Orlandina
This intimate programme pairs the cornetto with the viola da gamba for an exploration of solo and duo sonatas from early 17th-century Italy, along with a selection of works from the divisions repertoire (ornamented performances of popular motets and madrigals of the day). Fresobaldi, Marini, Cima, Bassano and Rognioni all feature in this selection of music which is ideal as a lunchtime recital. A selection of music from this programme can also be found on the audio page.
Cantate Domino
Designed as a workshop weekend for singers and instrumentalists of all abilities, this programme presents a selection of polychoral music by Giovanni Gabrieli, along with smaller scale instrumental works by his contemporaries and colleagues at San Marco, Venice. Coaching and direction for the weekend workshops is provided by myself and my colleagues. This programme can be tailored to meet the forces and requirements of specific groups, so if your school or music society is interested in learning more about this fantastic repertoire, please do not hesitate to contact me. Unlike most estate agents, I do actually respond!
